Rodolfo Paglialunga for Vionnet
Italian Fashion Designer, Rodolfo Paglialunga, may have left his position at Vionnet but he also left his own indelible mark on the historical brand. I find this collection exceptionally creative. Rodolfo was inspired by a digital image that he ran across on the internet and wove it into the collection. It is essentially a knot that coalesces from curved geometric vector shapes. The graphic became part of the fashions and also used as an engaging backdrop for the marketing. The pattern is portrayed in fabrics and styles and they merge with the background as an artistic whole. The images have an energy that draw us into the total experience and demonstrate the importance of a great presentation. I love that, instead of claiming a recent trip or study of a culture as the inspiration for the collection, Rodolfo was moved to create something from simply experiencing a single solitary graphic. It propelled him to think outside of the box and design an entire collection, reflecting solely on his own artistic juices.
