Nina Ricci Spring 2014
Though the Fashion Police are debating whether or not Peter Copping did this collection justice with his abundant use of whites, I am inclined to applaud it. In the Nina Ricci Fall 2013 collection, winter whites took center stage and I for one, thought it was fantastic. White isn’t washed out, it stands out. It looks dazzling against a bright, snowy back drop, glows in a dark room… If you want to make a dramatic statement, wear white and watch how quickly eyes are drawn. In this collection Peter focused on the weights, the lines, the drape of fabric, the ruffles, lace and tiers of sheer femininity. He demonstrates that great design isn’t always about distraction. The collection is punctuated with color at the end; bright blues and some cool hued florals that add diversity to the collection and that will certainly please all Nina Ricci fans but in my opinion, he could have easily stopped with the neutrals and whites. The devil is in the details and the Nina Ricci Spring 2014 details are utterly feminine, flattering and fantastic.
