Jitrois Fall Winter 2013
Jitrois is the leather luxury label that has its own cult following. Founded by Jean Claude Jitrois in 1983, his label specializes in leather and fur. (As some of you may know, due to the inhumane practices of the fur industry, I try my best to avoid posting any real fur designs from collections. It may not be popular or wise as a fashion blogger, but I refuse to promote it, and sadly, it’s been difficult to do this season.) I will though, post some leather from time to time. We do eat beef and we don’t kill cows simply for their skins or inhumanely! Ok, so enough of that – the Jitrois designs sans those with fur – are off the chain!
I’m inspired by the many methods Jitrois used to compose his designs using leather; There are leather styles that drape and pleat like the softest of fabrics, embossed and inventively textured leather, leather used as an applique on sheer fabric, leather fringe, varieties of styles that are fitted in snug silhouettes; and many others that are cleverly zippered up!
I like the pants and dress with skin baring, criss-cross slits.
The full-length, arm covering gloves are an iconic fashion statement. The leather as a coat dress is so sexy!! I’m crazy about the deep turquoise leather pencil skirt and jacket. I like all the form fitting styles and I also appreciate how Jitrois paired the leather against sheer fabric in blouses and dresses… the combination is unique and creative.
One of the show stoppers for me is the sheer gown with leather appliqued on the sleeves and bodice – the pattern as well as dropped waist, draws focus to slim hips and a sexy abdomen, then finishes into a floor length skirt, full with layers of leather fringe. Gorgeous! I also love the black zippered jacked with the shoulder baring, fall away, zippered collar as well as the off-white leather gown that is embossed on top then ‘snows’ with small leather appliques applied on sheer fabric. Amazing.
