Gundi Glass Sculptures
Gundi Viviani-Finch, is a German born glass artist that lived in Chile for 20 years and then relocated to Canada in the late 70’s. During the early 80’s she worked as a fashion designer in suede and leather – an occupation that she credits for helping her to develop a sense of shape and proportion in her current artistic pursuits. She now calls Southeastern Canada home, where she lives and works on a hilltop that overlooks fields, a forest and a lovely natural creek.
Gundi creates sculptural art glass. She develops unusual and organic styled shapes by layering and fusing variant levels of cut and fused glass. This year she began to infuse many of her pieces with bold, colorful edges. The works are so very creative. Each piece is meticulously developed. She cuts the glass into small pieces, then tumbles them to remove any sharp edges. Then she fuses the glass with an ultra-strong bond, building a unique and multifaceted sculpture. The sculptures reflect light so remarkably, they appear almost luminescent. The colors are light and refreshing. They’re beautiful in the sunlight and appear iridescent and nearly mystical as centerpieces when illuminated at night. Gundi also makes time to accept custom orders.
