Chado Ralph Rucci Fall 2013
As with many recent designer trends, Ralph Rucci’s Fall collection features a dominant use of black – however he punctuated it with a notable use of purples, some pinks, gold, and also a few neons, that really brought this collection to life. I’ve always loved black but I’m already tired of seeing so much of it without accent color, so seeing this Fall 2013 collection was a pleasure.
However, as you will see from my post, I have not featured any of the neons as these were primarily in furs for the most part and it was said that Ralph used sable as well as skunk in these designs. Fox News and others reported that the Chado Ralph Rucci collection received an enormous response when the neon colored minks were sent out on the catwalk.
Not to single Ralph’s work out in any way, but as much as I admire fashion, I revere living beings even more. Though I post a lot about fashion, I believe that when you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. I am NOT an advocate of real animal furs in fashion. We have come too far to require the use of animal products in our apparel and the true horrors that animals must endure for the sake of fashion or style, is NOT acceptable for any reason.
I challenge all designers to make use of the advances in technology that we are capable of and incorporate NEW ways to accent, trim and make coats without the totally unnecessary suffering of ANY animal. Therefore, some of the designs in this collection as well as for other designers – may be missing if they include real fur. Sorry Ralph, the rest of the collection is amazing!
