Marchesa Spring 2015
New York Fashion Week is accustomed to featuring the coveted styles by Marchesa every year, but for the 10th anniversary of the now infamous label, Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman went home to London. It’s hard to believe that it was just a decade ago they started their label in a less than desirable location on Archer Street in Soho, only to celebrate in the historical and palatial Banqueting House, Whitehall, London.
The collection is truly worthy of celebration too. It’s filled with dreamy designs straight out of a modern day fairy tale. Designs feature couture like details yet this is a Ready-to-Wear Collection. They coalesce into a fluid ensemble of feminine designs that are the epitome of creativity. Styles focus on the botanical elements of spring. Sheer, peek-a-boo styling is a dominant design element and combined with an abundance of intricate lacework and exquisite embroidery. At times the lace is seen as a single skin baring layer, at other times in multiple tiers of ruffles. Ruffles are copious and creative too. Delicate and romantic. Fringe is a delightful ornamental detail and the floral embroidery is just fabulous.
