Ralph Lauren Spring 2009

Ralph Lauren does silk like no other. Every design he uses it on, I love. In this collection he has used it in a neutral palette that includes a lot of khaki colored styles. Only Ralph could create such iconic evening styles with such a (normally) rather muted, inconspicuous, perhaps even drab color. The silks and metallics light the collection up. Textures create a lot of visual interest. Silk is an amazing fabric against the skin too. Sheer luxury! The gowns are very silhouette focused and a lot of emphasis is placed on the hips. A safari influence permeates the collection in the casual, day wear designs along with the addition of exotic turbans and head wraps. These may be several years old but there’s nothing outdated about any of them. Classic Ralph Lauren.
