Didit Hediprasetyo Spring 2014 Haute Couture
The Didit Hediprasetyo Spring 2014 collection is the new age of Haute Couture. This young Indonesian designers creations are subtle yet indelibly sensual. His close to the body designs are hourglass focused, and he elongates the form with a polished simplicity that just oozes sex appeal. His designs are somewhat conservative, but with focus on singular elements of a woman’s innate sensuality. A heart shaped neckline that bares her shoulders, a plunging neckline that provides a peek-a-boo line of cleavage. In fact he plays with peek-a-boo in cuts that are sometimes obvious, and other times more subtle. Designs go from sharp, dress for success styles to night on the town, formal gathering, or chic, gallery opening in New York. He manages to make them ALL sexy even while his models sport dark rimmed glasses!
Didit has a remarkable talent for working with leather. His eye for incorporating textures and weaves, born from traditional crafts of his native Indonesia, are difficult not to notice. The textures are rich and visually interesting especially using such natural colors. Body hugging leather gowns with lace accents are hot! I love it all. It’s super creative and contemporary.
What I especially love about the collection is his twist on the palette for the season.
Personally, I love browns and neutrals and even more so for the Spring. Why be predictable? Wear what looks good on you and you feel great wearing. These days it’s all about just that.
